Our very own diva Mehwish Hayat will be receiving the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for her tremendous contribution to the industry with hit films like Load Wedding, Actor in Law, Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Jawani Phir Nai Ani. The roles that she chooses reek of strength and empowering women and to be very honest, no one deserves it more than Mehwish.
When the list of recipients for the Civil Awards 2019 came out, people were ecstatic! Who else is going is empower our celebrities if not our own country? Congratulations started pouring in from other fellow celebrities and of course, some people didn’t receive the news really well. And why would they? A young talented woman, who spent the last decade giving us great content, how can she win the award? I mean obviously there had to be some *parchi* involved, because winning on merit is too basic…

But Mehwish does not take crap from anyone, she immediately called them out and demanded for an apology.
This is shameful https://t.co/7chd70ABKZ this is how you celebrate your artist’s success by vilifying their character?! This is libellous and defamation. Withdraw this article and post a written apology else legal action will be taken against this! https://t.co/sv1WzPdaCM

The industry and fans quickly came to Mehwish’s support
Mubarak @MehwishHayat 🙌🏼💕 @siasatpk Enough with this, it’s a regular pattern. Sick way of getting clicks!! https://t.co/FjDsZtV7AO

Congratulations, Mehwish – your work speaks for itself. That someone would defame your character for the sake of retweets and gossip is absolutely disgusting. https://t.co/lst5X2gsGm

So basically being the lead heroine of half a dozen highest grossing movies isnt good enough? A woman has to keep on justifying her accomplishments/rewards. Shameless character assassination! https://t.co/v834E6QZLF

Bit late to this but @MehwishHayat is an excellent actress & @siasatpk should be ashamed of itself for demeaning her & rumor-mongering in their classic misogynist ways. Stay strong, Mehwish and keep slaying. 🔥

Mehwish Hayat has earned this national honour based on her art. Have some shame while discrediting women artists and attacking their character and invalidate their art just to sell your content @MehwishHayat https://t.co/PB5frmgJZL

@MehwishHayat we all are really proud of you . Congratulations

Full support with @MehwishHayat, she is as respectable as lady politician, journalists, lawyers and doctors. @siasatpk withdrew this article and send her apology.

By the way who is @siasatpk to decide that why someone nominated for what. News websites were supposed to break the news only but unfortunately the people who are behind this have no ethics of journalism. This post was below the standard and Pathetic. Legal action must be taken.

@MehwishHayat
A woman has to keep on justifying her accomplishments .a Shameless character assassination by @siasatpk this is totally libellous and defamation.— Saif Ali Qureshi (@SaifAQureshi) March 15, 2019
Disgusting tweet, unexpected of @siasatpk.Dis is what #AuratMarch was all about where u just can't accept a woman's success n try to vilify her by naming it a favour by a man.@MehwishHayat has given consecutive 6 super hit films & many hit dramas & deserves this on her OWN.Period!

Some people were furious why the award wasn’t being given to a male actor, umm, because logic? But Maria Memon handled it pretty well.
Ji Bilkul milna chahiye. Lekin male & female actors ki alehda category hoti hey jis mein unfortunately inhein nahi nominate kiya ja sakta. I hope sense prevails & we dont make such comparisons like apple & oranges. https://t.co/ENzZ2GKZFL
— Maria Memon (@Maria_Memon) March 14, 2019
Some people were confused why the basis of being a recipient was talent… ummm? Someone please tell them that achievements don’t only come to those who spend more time, it comes to those who are skilled enough.

i think their must be age restriction for this category of award as acting demand experience not a rapid good work. we must shows some importance of this award by giving it to 60+ age. their are lot of people who deserve this.

To which Fifi Haroon gave a befitting reply
She's been working for 10 years actually – which is exactly the amount of time the Pakistan film revival has been happening. So perhaps her contribution has been crucial at a time when the industry really needed it?
— Fifi Haroon (@fifiharoon) March 15, 2019
Siasat.pk, obviously taken aback by the backlash jumped in to reply, and it was not an apology… Fine you’re a reporting source but the headline was clearly misleading and defamatory.
With all due respect, we are a reporting source only and only reposted Express Tribune's article (as it is clearly visible). We did not 'fabricate' it with an intention to 'defame'. If you condemn it and have reservations regarding the claims made by them, speak to them
— Siasat.pk (@siasatpk) March 15, 2019
I sternly believe in the saying ‘if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.’ As a nation we need to learn to be happy for others rather than speculating if something slanderous was involved, especially when it comes to women. Not every woman is going to take your bullshit and we applaud Mehwish Hayat for calling them out. Character assassination, regardless of the gender is not acceptable. You’re a true diva, Mehwish!
I conceive this web site holds some real superb information for everyone : D.
