“Irrfan Khan Left a Huge Irreplaceable Void in Cinema,” Says Saba Qamar

With the world waking up to the news of Bollywood superstar Irrfan Khan passing away, a myriad of condolences are being sent to the bereaved family and industry as they mourn the loss of a brilliant actor.

Adding on to the list of those deeply shaken up by the unfortunate news is also Pakistani megastar Saba Qamar, who debuted in Bollywood alongside Irrfan in Hindi Medium.

“Deeply disturbed to hear about the passing of Irrfan Khan. I still can’t absorb the news,” Saba Qamar wrote in an Instagram post, as she remembered the time with the actor. “It feels like yesterday coming back from the sets of Hindi Medium. You taught me a lot as an actor and a mentor. It is indeed a huge loss to the cinema world. Such a brilliant actor gone too soon.”

The actress also wrote about how the passing of the talented actor left a void in Indian cinema.

“You left a huge irreplaceable void in Cinema Irfan. My heartfelt condolences to his family. May Allah give them the strength to bear this loss. RIP Raj 💔 Yours Only, Meeta. 🌸”

The Maqbool actor, who passed away at the age of 53, was suffering from Neuroendrocine tumour and had given a few health scares since the diagnosis. He later underwent treatment in a London hospital for the illness which affects cells that release hormones into the bloodstream.

Soon after the rumours about his death began to float, a statement released by his PR company confirmed his death saying, Irrfan was “surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, as he left for heavenly abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace”.

He had been admitted to hospital with a colon infection.
