The historic victory of Pakistan in the 1992 Cricket World Cup remains a cherished moment for all Pakistanis, evoking immense pride and joy. To honor this remarkable achievement, Tapmad Entertainment has rolled out a highly anticipated docuseries titled ‘Cornered Tigers – The 1992 Story,’ featuring first-hand accounts from the legendary playing elevens’ who witnessed and accomplished this triumph, bringing the trophy back home to a nation that had been waiting for this win anxiously! The docuseries is produced by Nina Kashif and directed by Adnan Sarwar.

Watching the ‘Cornered Tigers’ has been a nostalgic journey, reigniting the excitement, passion, and unwavering spirit of ‘Jazba’ and ‘Junoon’ that defined Pakistan’s iconic 1992 Cricket World Cup victory. Through this docuseries, we had the privilege of having an insight into the lives of the extraordinary players who made this historic win possible.

The premiere episode introduced us to the legendary individuals who earned their place in the Pakistani team, proudly representing their nation in the highly anticipated World Cup of 1992. Their remarkable stories and personal journeys, shared with heartfelt honesty, is sure to leave a lasting mark on the hearts of cricket enthusiasts nationwide.

Having icons from the 90’s like Wasim Akram, Javed Miandad, Moin Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Inzamam ul Haq, and Ejaz Ahmed come together, it served as a true treat for cricket aficionados. Witnessing these cricket maestros recount their humble beginnings, their struggles, and the pivotal moments that shaped their careers was an absolute delight.

Wasim Akram’s background gives us as viewers an insight as to how the game of cricket changed his life, he repeatedly credits his entry into the game to Javed Miandad who gave a ‘rookie’ like him a chance to play with the team. The players he idolised were now his team mates. From how to eat his first ‘steak’ to learning all the different techniques, he credits his personal and professional grooming to his seniors in the team.

The docuseries brings forward not only former players but stakeholders that helped form the team that went on to play the 1992 tournament. Iqbal Munir, renown cricket historian and photographer reminisces about the involvement of Late President of Pakistan, Zia-ul-Haq asking Imran Khan who had already retired from the ODI’s to come back and take lead of the team for the upcoming world cup.

Another interesting revelation by Mushtaq Ahmed tells us of the locker room pep-talk given by the legendary Imran Khan who was then wearing a t-shirt with a picture of a cornered tiger, after his speech, the team was victorious, a standard was set and Pakistan was forever known from that point on as ‘the cornered tigers.’

The first episode of ‘Cornered Tigers’ not only reignited our love for the game but also shed light on the unbreakable bond between these players. The preparations and various tournaments and matches leading to the world cup were discussed in the episode.
